Months of work,
Of trial and error.
Months spent wishing,
Spent wanting to be me.
Almost at random, working on class,
I didn't look up, but you came looking,
I was beyond loving you, knowing you-
And then you showed up.
I got my life on track,
after months of stupidity.
I got my life back,
So I could dream again.
Dreaming of adventures, joyful for life,
Finishing college, starting my career, my life,
Wondering what life would bring next, excited-
But then you showed up.
What a coincidence,
That you forgive me,
And, coincidentally,
You're getting cleaned up.
Finally got yourself a job, rather well timed,
Paying all your bills, a
Can you not see it?
'Tis autumn.
Forests of gold and orange,
Children playing in leaves-
You don't see it,
Do you?
You only feel pressure,
Energy, killing us all.
Surrounded by it,
Darkness,
You only see death,
You only know doom.
And, I won't deny it-
We are dying,
Slow, so most don't know,
Those that do are haunted.
But I can see more.
Silly Jin,
That will be death of you.
Tao is a sweeter fate.
Breath easy, take pause.
Dear Jin,
There is more to life, you see,
You showed me that once.
Step away from destruction,
See life.
It is creation, it is beautiful,
It is harder to build than destroy.
Calm yourself, be still, Jin.
Slow
I quietly asked him why,
Of all things, a Demon here.
He could tell me the truth, or a lie,
Knowing I would never question him.
Without thought, or even steadying his hand,
He spoke, slowly, and without fear,
Of Dark things, merely brushing over them,
How he had to keep his Demons near,
But behind him, at his back, yet never truly gone.
There are tales not everyone needs to hear,
Of what he had been, things he had done.
The Demon upon his back simply serves
As a reminder to him of the Devil inside.
He does not want the false comfort of escape,
Only the knowledge that he cannot hide.
He held me close, as if for comfort,
As I fell deeper in
The pain, the strain
Of fluid movements,
In my peaceful domain-
The fear, its here-
Invading, testing me.
What do you want?
A challenge, of course,
And a failure to taunt me,
Endlessly, forever more.
But I am ready.
First movement, eyes shining,
So I hold my head high.
Keep moving, I'm not done,
Didn't expect this of me,
Now did you?
Here, I am flowing,
A creature of movement,
I disregard the pain,
Skill is not given, it is earned
Only by those who strive for it.
The pain and strain,
Of fluid movements,
All things of my domain,
Movement, strikes, flow,
These things make me, life.

The Knight and the Page
A knight in shining armor
has never proved his worth.
He is good for a show,
He wins a joust or two
With a page to attend him,
To polish his plate and steel
So it flashes in his glorious light..
He fights for pretty faces,
For pride and gifts of gold,
For sweet nothings, empty words;
They make up his whole world,
Yet never prove his worth.
But the page still attends to him,
Breaking her back to save face,
Struggling with bloody hands,
Grimacing against broken knuckles,
Standing by his side, happily,
Regardless of his careless blows.
